A former USD football player and business owner was in court, accused of robbing a Yankton bank including a bomb scare last July. 26-year-old David Giese plead not guilty.

On July 26, 2016 a man with an old man mask robbed a Yankton Wells Fargo bank and left a suspicious package. Authorities later deemed the package to be non-hazardous. The suspect fled in a silver SUV, the same vehicle later tied to Giese.

A football player for USD in approximately 2012, Giese later owner a food truck in Vermilion. He was indicted by a federal grand jury for bank robbery on Tuesday, February 14, 2016 and pleaded not guilty when he showed up to court in Sioux Falls Friday February 17, 2016. Giese was released on bond and a trial date has not been determined.

Yankton police say Giese could also be charged with a felony for animal cruelty in a separate case in October 2016, where a dog was stabbed to death.
