The Sioux Falls Canaries wrapped up the final game of the 2016 American Association season on Monday afternoon, falling to the Kansas City T-Bones by the final score of 7-5 at Community America Ballpark.

Canaries starting pitcher Dylan Thompson suffered the loss for the Birds. Thompson (5-2, 3.30 ERA) gave up six runs (four earned) on 10 hits while striking out one batter over five innings. The T-Bones struck early and often, scoring five runs over the first three innings, including a lead-off home run from Tyler Massey in the bottom of the 1st inning.

The Canaries were led offensively by Cameron Monger, who finished the day going 2-for-4 at the plate with an 8th inning home run (10) that helped get the Birds back in the game late. Ethan Chapman also had a good day offensively, finishing 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored to go along with his two stolen bases.

The loss snapped the Canaries longest winning streak of the season at six games, but the Birds did finish the season with an overall record of 40-60, including a 23-22 record under interim manager Shelby Ford.
