Skyforce Add Assistant with NBA Playing, Coaching Experience
Another piece of the Sioux Falls Skyforce coaching staff was revealed one day after their head coach was made known. Former NBA veteran Anthony Carter will be on the bench.
The press release touts Carter and his coaching time as an assistant for the Sacramento Kings during the 2015-16 season. Carter also claims assistant coach experience with the Austin Spurs of the NBA Development League for two seasons, helping them to a 32-18 record in his second season with the team, good enough for first place in their division.
Carter, logged 14-years in the Association, but started his pro career with the Yakima Sun Kings in the CBA before landing with the Miami Heat. Carter also played with the San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors.
He appeared in 623 career NBA games (181 starts) and averaged 4.8 points, 3.8 assists and 2.1 rebounds. Additionally, he made the playoffs in seven of his 14 seasons, appearing in 39 career postseason games (five starts) averaging 4.5 points, 3.2 assists and 2.5 rebounds.
For his college career, Carter played his first two years at Saddleback Community College in California. During his two-year stint in Hawaii he was able to post 1,000 points and finished number one in assists per game in school history.
